About Lakehill Productions
"Promoting music for the soul and research for the cure."
Harpist Linda DeBrita was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in February, 2004, and continues to undergo chemotherapy.   As a Certified Music Practitioner, she wanted to record a CD of soothing harp and flute music, particularly appropriate for patients undergoing chemotherapy, but with wide appeal.  All profits from the recording are donated to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, Inc, a not-for-profit organization devoted to advancing research, raising awareness and finding a cure for ovarian cancer (www.ocrf.org).  Linda and Kate formed Lakehill Productions as a means of promoting this CD and to serve as a vehicle for future ovarian cancer research fund-raising efforts.   A second benefit CD is in the works, and Linda's husband John plans to organize fund-raising bicycle rides in the future.  Watch this site for further announcements!
Linda DeBrita is a classically trained pianist whose love of Celtic music ultimately led her to the harp and the hammered dulcimer.   She performs on both instruments as a soloist and with other instrumentalists (especially Kate) in various church, social and community settings, and teaches hammered dulcimer.   In her Celtic-style acoustic ensemble, Lakehill Strings 'n Things, she plays both harp and hammered dulcimer.  By profession, Linda is a Family Nurse Practitioner and Hospice RN, and has combined her interests in music and medicine to become a Certified Music Practitioner which involves playing therapeutic music on the harp at patients' bedsides.  Linda and her husband John (official harp mover) live in Scotia, New York, and have four grown children.
Kate Oaks is trained as a classical flutist and graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a degree in Music Education.  Career choices took her in a different direction, and she is currently employed full time as a systems analyst. The flute remained untouched for many years until she was asked to play in church during worship.  Before long, a worship service called for Kate and Linda to play a duet, and she knew right away it was a match.   Linda's talent and enthusiasm have been the motivation to keep playing.  Kate participates in several musical groups at church which keep her so busy, that she threatens  to form a new church, “The Church of the Blessed Brunch” where no live music is allowed (only CDs), and where the coffee mugs will always be at least half full. Linda and John (the official harp mover) just might be her first members.  Kate lives in Charlton, New York with her husband Kevin and their two children.
